How to take pictures?

You will find below our tips for taking better pictures of your items and make them stand out. Better pictures will draw more easily the attention of the client and therefore maximize your sales. Better pictures guarantee better realized prices for sellers.

1. Use professional lighting fixtures

We recommand you to use professional lighting fixtures in order to make your currency stand out. Ordinary lighting such as a light bulb or a flash light might whether darken the image or worsen the colors, which would affect the currency's attractivity.

2. Photograph only the item you want to sell

Having several items in the picture might distract or confuse the potential buyer on what is for sale. Any items not related to the description should be removed from the picture.

3. Use a neutral background

Using a neutral background helps the buyer to focus on the item. We suggest a white background.

4. Photograph both sides of the coin

Buyers tend to want to see as many details as possible. We request to always take pictures of the obverse and reverse of the coin. The more you highlight those details, the more will your customers be encouraged to buy this item.

5. Take your photos one at a time

If you are willing to sell a collection, take the photos of each item separately in order for the buyer to be able to examine each coin of the collection, even if you want to take a global one beforehand or afterwards. Just having a global photo would undermine your selling success.

6. The photo must be close to mirroring your item

Any signs of damage or scratches must be accurately mentionned in the description and highlighted in the pictures. Showing full disclosure fosters confidence-building between the buyer and the seller.

7. Hold properly your camera

Try to use a digital or professional camera rather than your smartphone in order to obtain a clearer image. Moreover you will be able to adjust the distance of your camera for all your photos to be even-sized and crop the edges afterwards with your computer to only just expose the coin.

The first picture uploaded will be the first displayed. This picture must draw attention and convince the buyers that your item is the most worthwhile.

5. Leave no empty space

It is important to fill all the space within the envelope or box to prevent the contents from moving during transit as this can cause damage to both the contents and the envelope. Use appropriate internal packaging materials such as foam sheeting, air bags, foam peanuts to protect the item.
