An extremely rare error, created when the moving machine part that delivers the planchet to the dies becomes trapped and takes on a full or partial strike. This perfectly struck example shows the area of greatest importance, with both the date and denomination remaining legible. Because of its size, errors such as this rarely escape the mint, and as a result, are highly regarded among error collectors.
