Lot 30559 > Alexander I 20 Kopecks 1824 CПБ-ПA MS65 NGC, St. Petersburg mint, KM-C128, Bit-210. Tied for finest graded by NGC or PCGS, a gorgeous gem representative with an element of numismatic intrigue; the obverse shows evidence of having been struck over a brockage of the reverse, an incuse and reversed '20' visible behind the necks of the double-headed eagle. The reverse, too, seems to have been struck over an earlier obverse strike. This production aspect aside, this example boasts almost perfectly rendered devices, some elements of the reverse wreath more soft but clearly without a hint of wear.
