Corinthia. Corinth. 415-387 BC. AR Stater (8.53g, 10h). BCM 147; Weber 3690. Old cabinet tone. Choice extremely fine. From a European private collection; Tradart 1992 (2) lot 88 Corinth was one of the most famous cities of mainland Greece, and because its situation on the Isthmus, joining the Peloponnese and northern Greece, it enjoyed an ideal trading position. Its famous pottery was exported all over the Mediterranean world. The coinage depicts the divine winged horse Pegasos caught near the fountain Peirene by the Corinthian hero Bellerophon.
