From a private collection; Schweizerische Kreditanstalt 1975 (18) lot 82 The Severan dynasty was dominated by powerful women, one of which was Julia Maesa. Politically ruthless, she is known for her plotting and scheming which resulted in the restoration of the Severan dynasty after the assassination of Caracalla and usurpation of Macrinus.
