Their territory had the reputation among Roman observers of being a prominent religious center, especially the famous forest where stood the annual meeting of the Druids. According to Titus Livius, they had been one of the tribes that accompanied Bellovesus in his invasion of Italy during the reign of Tarquinius Priscus.
