They had to provide in their drawings five free places to accommodate the effigy of the five kings of our dynasty. Wieslaw Bartolomiej Bielyszew's project won first prize. After some improvements to his project, it was engraved by Paul Huybrechts. The following five effigies were chosen to be engraved in a medallion on the obverse: The effigy of Leopold I by Leopold Wiener, Leopold II by Franz Vermeylen, Albert I by Godefroid Devreese, Leopold III by Marcel Rau and Baudouin I by Harry Elstrom. Le ministère des Finances organise un concours de dessin ouvert à tous les artistes belges pour la création d'un type de pièce de monnaie émise à l'occasion de 150e anniversaire de l'indépendance de la Belgique. Ils devaient prévoir dans leurs dessins cinq emplacements libres pour accueillir l'effigie des cinq rois de notre dynastie. Le projet de Wieslaw Bartolomiej Bielyszew remporta le premier prix. Après quelques améliorations apportées à son projet, celui-ci fut gravé par Paul Huybrechts.
